Who We Are
Business Literacy & Protection
Learning a beauty service is easy. Leveraging it into a career is not. Having business skills means you protect your assets and yourself. Whether you are navigating your worker rights as a salon professional or establishing your own legal entity, a supportive, real-world education gives you the power to make the best decisions for your future.
The Bilingual Advantage
Learning a technical skill gets you started. Learning to communicate across cultures is what opens every door in Phoenix. Our courses are fully bilingual, delivered by instructors who teach in English, Spanish, and the authentic “Spanglish” our community uses daily. In a diverse market, the ability to connect with a client who doesn’t speak your primary language means you never have to turn business away. Whether you currently speak only English or only Spanish, learning these communication skills means you create your own larger community.
Real Flexibility
Achieving your dream takes time and people that have your back. We value your time and the sacrifices you make to get your license. Whether you need a custom schedule that fits your needs or a school that works with your life, we’ll be your support system. We understand that adult life is complicated and messy, we’ll work with you when life happens.
True Community
Like all families, some days may be more chaotic than others. But everyone at Mima’s cares about their career and license. We all want to succeed together. We’re not interested in gossip, we’re interested in education. Find a student body working toward a common goal. When your classmates also have payment plans, they care more every day.
Why Don’t Beauty Schools Near Me Teach Business Classes?
Traditional beauty schools focus entirely on teaching you the trade so you can pass your state board exam. While learning the technical skills and passing the test is incredibly important, most programs stop right there. They simply don’t include the legal, financial, or marketing education required to run a real business.
Learning the trade is only a small part of what makes you successful long-term. Leaving out business skills is the main reason why the average beauty professional only lasts about five years in the industry before throwing in the towel. If a school only teaches you the trade skills, you limit your earning potential.
To build a career that lasts, a comprehensive beauty education needs to teach the actual backend of the industry. This means knowing how to build a client book from scratch using a digital portfolio, managing smart pricing and booth rentals to protect your income during slow months, and understanding the difference between W2 and 1099 structures so you can open a legal LLC and always advocate for yourself.
Our approach integrates full business scaling classes directly into our curriculum. You shouldn’t have to start from zero and figure out how to build a business all by yourself after graduation. You receive the exact hands-on technical training required to get licensed, paired with the practical foundations needed to be a business owner from day one.

No. We intentionally choose to work with students who don’t have a diploma or GED. A piece of paper shouldn’t stop you from building a career and supporting your family. Whatever reason you were not able to complete your high school education does not change who you are or your ability to get your professional license.
